What's the wildest or most interesting party or event you have ever attended?0:05
Have you ever wondered how these great parties and events are organised?0:11
Well, on today's show we will have an inside look at the world of glamorous parties and events with our guest, David Tudora, party and event planner.0:16
So your official job title is event consultant.0:30
Can you tell us exactly what this means?0:35
A big part of most people's life is the time they spend enjoying themselves during their free time.0:38
So my firm offers an event production and design service that recognises this and helps clients to organize this side of their lives.0:44
Particularly by helping them to organize very special events and parties.0:51
And how did you get started with all this?0:56
Well, really, I owe it all to my grandfather.0:58
He felt I was not only creative and artistic, but a visionary when it came to inspiring other people.1:01
Basically, he encouraged me to follow my dreams.1:07
So at age 19, with his support, I started my own event planning business.1:09
It grew quickly and I now even contribute to various TV programs and magazines about lifestyle and entertaining.1:14
You mean you are interviewed by the media on TV programmes or for magazine articles, for example?1:22
I simply give a little bit of guidance if someone has written an article or is producing a TV show about organising parties, for example.1:30
I'll check the details and just be available for consultation at any time.1:37
So I understand that you have a long list of celebrity and other high profile clients.1:43
Sure, I do a lot of celebrity weddings and of course company openings and well known product launches.1:49
I enjoy all the events I organize because they are all very different.1:55
But what I enjoy the most about these kinds of high profile events is probably not what you would expect.1:59
Yes, it's exciting to have TV cameras everywhere and to meet lots of interesting celebrities.2:04
But can you imagine how much money is available to plan these kinds of events?2:09
No expense is spared, of course.2:14
Which means that you have every possible resource available to you to come up with something really imaginative, exciting and unique.2:16
So tell us about the actual process of event planning.2:24
What exactly does it involve?2:28
Well, first of all, the place has to be examined so that it can be properly utilized.2:30
Then I start working with the client on a concept.2:35
Basically, we try to come up with something that is highly imaginative but still reflects the personality of the client.2:38
But no matter how original our idea is, the most important thing is for the event to be a success.2:44
We want our clients and their guests to remember the event for years to come.2:50
And what role does the decor play in an event?2:55
Well, the moment a guest enters a party space, every aspect of the decor should capture them.2:58
Their sight, smell, taste, and touch should all be stimulated from the beginning to the close of the event.3:03
We always work really hard to achieve this, and in fact, very often the decor is what the client is most impressed by.3:09
Can you recall an event that you are particularly proud of?3:16
There is one wedding that stands out to me.3:19
We transformed an ordinary reception area into a fantasy palace.3:22
Everything was white.3:26
We dusted crystal on the tables where the food was laid out, and there was even a miniature lake with real live swans that everyone could see as they ate.3:27
It was absolutely magical.3:35
It sounds incredible.3:37
Well, David, thanks for joining us today.3:40
I certainly had no idea that event organizing could be so exciting.3:42
And thank you for listening.3:48
