Well, the idea of the museum was developed in the 1950s by members of the community.0:23
It is an open-air museum that recreates the English town of Dudley in the 1830s, when it became one of the first industrial landscapes in the world.0:28
And what can visitors see at the museum?0:37
As a living museum, Black Country allows people to walk through the streets and be fully immersed in history.0:40
Visitors can enter vintage shops and homes, while also interacting with staff dressed in traditional costumes.0:46
It's a truly authentic 19th-century experience.0:53
Can you tell us some more about the exhibits?0:56
Well, at the heart of the museum lies Canal Street, where visitors can learn firsthand what it was like to live, work, and shop in the 19th century.0:59
Here you can explore an ironmonger's, anchor maker shop, bakery, and even a cinema that shows silent films.1:08
Are all the buildings replicas?1:15
No, many are original buildings that have been restored, and all of them are decorated with original items from the 1800s to the 1940s.1:18
There are around 80,000 items in our collection, from books and photographs to cars.1:26
Can visitors interact with these vintage items as well?1:31
Well, although many of the exhibits must not be touched, the purpose of this museum is to give visitors a real taste of the past.1:35
Therefore, we recommend that our visitors make full use of our vintage tram network and take a tour of the coal mine.1:42

I hear you also run workshops as well.1:53
We hold Young Inventor classes that teach people how to build toys such as motorised cars.1:57
These toys are fully functional and powered by a small motor.2:03
It's a very interactive lesson that's also a lot of fun.2:07
Are these workshops available for all visitors?2:11
Well, the Young Inventor classes are designed exclusively for school groups.2:14
And can accommodate between 30 to 60 students.2:18
However, we also offer other courses for families and adults so that everybody has the chance to get involved.2:21
